Aged Care

Infastructure Project

ARTIST EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)

Artists and carvers from the Quandamooka Nation (Stradbroke Island and Moreton Island and surrounding areas) are encouraged to apply to participate and take part in this unique opportunity—the creation of integrated artwork for the Winnam Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Corporation (WATSIC) Residential Aged Care project in Lota, Brisbane.

This facility is being developed to provide culturally appropriate aged care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders, and we are seeking artists and carvers to contribute meaningful artwork that reflects the stories, traditions, and identity of the community. This project is more than just an aged care facility—it is a place of connection, heritage, and storytelling. Through the integration of art into architecture and landscape elements, we aim to create an environment that enhances the built form while honouring cultural identity and history.

The selected artwork will become an integral part of the space, fostering a sense of pride, belonging, and cultural continuity for residents, staff, families, and visitors. We welcome artists and carvers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to contribute to this project. Whether through sculpture, murals, decorative panels, timber features, printed works, or other artistic expressions, this is an opportunity to help shape a living space that tells the stories of the past, present, and future. If you are passionate about using art to connect people, celebrate culture, and enrich the spaces where we live and gather, we encourage you to submit your Expression of Interest. Join us in creating a legacy, where art is more than decoration—it is a powerful thread woven into the fabric of community and care.

If you are interested in applying, please submit your application to gm@winnam.org
